Bolzano Festival Bozen is the annual classical music highlight in Bolzano. This year, the festival will bring together the city's excellent organisers of musical events for the ninth time.

Classical music is never hackneyed; it is ever new – especially when life is breathed into it by the enthusiasm of the great masters and the most outstanding young talents on the international music scene. The Music and Youth formula of the Bolzano Festival Bozen gives the event a unique place within the landscape of music in Europe. It is here that the European Union Youth Orchestra and the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester kick off their summer tours; it is from here that young pianists set off on a quest for international careers; and it is here that the summer months of August and September behold a rich variety of concerts – ranging from early music to an encounter with jazz to chamber music gems performed by the Gustav Mahler Academy – in rapid succession, the likes of which is rarely seen. It is the well-known “must” that makes many of these concerts so memorable: it is the performer who simply “must” communicate the classical masterworks – whether it be world-famous artist or hungry young musician – that allows an experience of this music to transform into an Event.
